After publishing an article on April 12 claiming that Nongfu Spring’s bottled water was worse quality than tap water, the mineral water giant soon sturdily rebuked the claims, which then led to an almost month-long “water fight”.

According to Nongfu Spring official Weibo account, the company stated in a press conference on May 6 that the quality of their water is “above national standards” and that they were one of the “top quality drinking water enterprises.”

Nongfu Spring has now taken the issue to the People’s Court in Beijing, and is demanding compensation of 60 million RMB from The Beijing Times.
