A bus carrying Chinese tourists plunged off the side of a mountain in Yunnan’s Xishuangbanna region at 12:41 on July 14, killing eight passengers and injuring 19. The accident occurred on Mengjing Road when the bus overturned and fell down 40 meters into a gorge.
According to preliminary investigations, the bus was carrying 25 tourists from Jilin Province. Torrential rain and treacherous driving conditions are believed to be the cause of the crash.
