Dec 16, 2013 By eChinacities.com

Beginning at midnight on December 16, Tianjin will formally institute a policy restricting the sale of automobiles. The ability to purchase a car license must first be granted through a lottery or auction.

Additionally, from March 1, 2014 until January 10, 2015, Tianjin will put into place traffic management measures every work day from 7:00-19:00 (aside from legal holidays) that limit car use according to their license plate serial numbers. Car licenses will be categorized into 5 separate groups with a regular rotation of limitation instituted towards each group.
