Report Claims Apple Rejected 5 Million iPhones; Foxconn Loses 1 Billion RMB
Apr 22, 2013 By eChinacities.com

According to The Chinese Business Journal, Apple recently returned 5 million iPhones to one of its main manufacturers, Foxconn, stating that “the products’ appearance does not conform to standards and the functions aren’t adequate.”

According to estimates, Foxconn is required to pay a fee of 200 RMB for each iPhone returned, meaning that the 5 million inferior quality phones sent back for repair likely cost the company 1 billion RMB. As Foxconn generates a yearly profit of 1.5 to 2 billion RMB for being a supplier for Apple, the figure could see them losing around 60% of their profit for the year.

However, this story has yet to be verified, as Chinese Business Journal cites an unnamed source at Foxconn, while the company has so far denied these reports.
