New Chengdu Bullet Train Launched

The new bullet train linking Shanghai and Chengdu was officially launched yesterday. The approximately 2,000 km journey now takes only 15 hours and 18 minutes, reducing the previous journey time by about 5 hours.

The D22206 left Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station at 06:36 and arrived in Chengdu at 21:54. The train passed through Nanjing, Hefei, Hankou and Chongqing along the way.

The seven hundred tickets available for the bullet trains debut trip were sold out days in advance.
