On April 13, Chongqing customs officials seized a foreigner who was attempting to smuggle drugs ‘internally’. Whilst performing security checks on an incoming flight from Singapore, airport security officers detained a South American man who was found to be carrying 1,503 grams of high purity cocaine.

Under questioning the suspect admitted that he had been paid 12,000 USD to smuggle the drugs over to China. This is the first attempt to smuggle via airplane that Chongqing customs officials have come across.

Details of the man’s nationality and the exact method he used to smuggle the drugs have not been released.
