Beijing to Implement Traffic Restrictions During APEC, Six Day Holiday Announced
Oct 16, 2014 By eChinacities.com

Authorities in Beijing have announced that the odd/even number plate system will be implemented during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting in November.

Cars will be permitted to drive on alternating days according to whether their license plate is an odd or even number during the period of November 3-12, in an effort to reduce traffic by 35 percent. 400 extra buses will be put into service in order to deal with these traffic restrictions, and to provide an alternative to private cars.

A holiday was also announced during the period from November 7-12 for non-essential government workers; to make up for the holiday, Sunday November 2 and Saturday November 15 will be those beloved make-up work days.

Private companies will choose whether or not to adapt to the holiday schedule at their own discretion.
