10m Wide Sinkhole Appears in Shenzhen Road; Swallows 5 People

On May 20 at around 21:00, a 10-meter wide sinkhole suddenly opened on Hengggang Jiedao, outside the Huamao Industrial Park. As it was the evening rush hour, the 2-meter deep hole swallowed up five passersby.

One person was rescued from the scene, but by 10:00 the next morning firefighters had only managed to pull out two bodies from the hole. A search and rescue operation for the other two people is still underway.
