In the following paragraphs, we will be introducing some of the top western restaurants in the city – all of them offering genuine food and great atmosphere to boot.
Yuntingxuan 云庭轩 View In Map
This dining venue is located at the top floor of the Ruijing Building and offers mainly French cuisine. The interior is mainly white – reflecting a clean and chic dining atmosphere; they've also got luxurious private booths for a more privileged dining experience. Service staff at the place are very professional and well trained.
What is a French full course without the foie gras? This particular dish at the place is marinated in red wine to get rid of that pungent taste and then pan-fried in low heat – so as to preserve its tender taste. Another recommended dish is the Cowboy Mushroom Stew; it's got carrots and taros carved out in little balls and stewed with sirloin beef – the soup is rich but not too thick. Stir-fried clam with loofah and stir-fried Chinese kale are also very much recommended.

Daiweiying Coffee & Steak 戴维营咖啡牛扒 View In Map
Daiweiying is a dining venue that has striven to portray an atmosphere of Italian romance; they've got the colored glass lamps, candles on the tables and a wall decorated with the owner's private collection of Audrey Hepburn's photos. You can immerse yourself in the soft modern jazz music played in the background and look out at a beautiful night view by the window.
Food at the venue is selected and portions are rather small. Steaks are the most recommended dish here –the meat is sparsely salted and then slapped on the grill, retaining much of its fresh taste and juicy tenderness. Fulange BBQ Restaurant弗兰哥主题烤肉餐厅 View In Map
Fulange is a self-serviced barbeque and grill restaurant renovated in a style and atmosphere reminiscent of South American culture. It's decorated to be both trendy and sharp, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, iron wrought railings and ebony wooden tables. The buffet table has got more than a hundred varieties of Chinese and western appetizers and entrees – with all-you-can-eat dessert and soup. Waiting staff can be seen weaving through the dining area carrying freshly grilled meat on pans – enticing diners with that lure of heavenly aroma.
BBQ meat is of premium quality at Fulange – it's grilled with such precision that the meat is left perfectly tender and done; some are soft and tender, and others are chewy and spicy. Make sure you also try their very own BBQ sauce, as it brings out a different kick in the taste with the meat. Dessert and other warm dishes at the venue are rather ordinary when compared with the grilled eats at the venue. But they serve up refreshing, free-flow German-style beer during lunch time and provide diners with free several glasses per table during dinner hours.

I must say that after 6 years of coming to China I still miss some of the basic comfort foods from England. If there is anyone in Hefei or Luan who wants to start a truly realistic and authentic bar or cafe I would love to advise. My Mother taught me to cook cakes and pastries. I think sometimes cafes or restaurants try too hard to creaet the image rather than concentrate on the detail of the food.
the best places in England are the no fuss no frills places, which offer clean well cooked food. A bacon sandwich with frsh bread and decent bacon with a nice cup of tea is still tops when it comes to a good snack. Cornish pasty and a nice pint of beer, Cheese on toast. I can name dozens of nice simple snacks and foods that you will love.
