Gang Running Fake Driver’s License Tests Scams Hundreds

Sign a few papers, register your fingerprints, take a few photos, sit in the car with your hands on the wheel for two minutes, and get your “drivers license.” The tests are given at a normal driving school, and the instructor is qualified. Sounds too good to be true? That’s because it clearly is.

A driving school based Taizhou, Zhejiang was recently busted for running this scam. More than 600 victims for 10 provinces were fooled by the scam, and defrauded out of more than 10 million Yuan. Eight suspects have already been arrested and police are working to hunt the rest of the perpetrators down.

From April 2013 to this past month, a man named Chen organized dozens of exam days drawing more than 600 participants from all over the country. Chen took a bus from Taizhou to a driving school in Shijiazhuang, Hebei. The students would complete paperwork, get fingerprinted and take photos. Then it was time for the “road test.” The students were asked to sit in the driver’s seat with their hands on the wheel, and eyes facing forward. They were not asked to start the car. After sitting for two minutes, Chen would tell them the test was over.

Chen gave exams all day, and then take the bus back to Taizhou. A few months later, he would inform participants that they had passed. He would add that their temporary license still needed to be registered into the traffic police’s informational network, and that he needed more time. He also told victims of the scam that they could receive a full refund if they were worried. With this “assurance,” participants believed that he would follow through…and he never did.

All of those people were defrauded because they were too damn lazy to prepare for a laughably easy driving test. The lengths Chinese people go to cheat always amazes me.

There were no victims, if you want to cheat to get your licenses you are as guilty as the scammers.
