A man accidentally left one million Yuan in a Xi’an taxi on Wednesday evening. Police quickly helped the man find their lost cash by finding the cab’s license plate number on a security camera.
Yesterday around 12:30 am, a flustered man entered the Xi’an police station asking for help. When he told his story, the policeman on duty was shocked.
The man, surnamed Dong, had taken a taxi around midnight with several friends carrying one million Yuan in cash in a safe box. Dong and his friends, who had been drinking, completely forgot the money when exiting the cab. Worse, none of them remembered the license plate number, and they did not ask for a receipt. The case with the money was not locked, anyone could see what’s inside.
The police worked with Dong to retrace the taxi route and were able to get a photo of the cab on a security camera. They were able to get the license plate of the taxi and call the driver. Two hours later, the cab driver returned to the police station with the box. Dong was ecstatic to see that all the cash was still there.

I don't even know where to begin with this one... the guy and his friends were out drinking with a million kuai in cash on them? Why would that possibly be necessary? Were they going to blow that much cash on some kind of high end KTV or brothel? Or did they have a million in cash for some "business" reasons and decide to take it out with them rather than leave it at home or put it in a bank? And why in God's name would you put it in the trunk when the driver could drive off with it easily? And how the hell could you forget about it when leaving the taxi? You know what they say about a fool and his money. I just hope the taxi driver got a nice reward from these imbeciles for returning their "hard earned" money.
