Cells from urine are being used by the Guangzhou Institutes of Biomedicine and Health to grow teeth, in a plan that surely tops China’s list of recent crazy projects.
Reportedly, urine contains a lot of stem cells that be converted into enamel and pulp, though the pee teeth won’t be as strong as naturally grown teeth.
Some have dismissed the project however, with one stem cell researcher from University College London saying that urine is “probably one of the worst sources” to develop stem cells from.
Is it too much to make a joke about yellow teeth at this point? Nah, we’ll refrain.
