Construction on “Tallest Building in World” Halted to Due Legal Difficulties

The planned Sky City building in Changsha – which is set to eclipse Dubai’s Burf Khalifa Tower by 10m to become the tallest building in the world – has had its construction put on hold due to “incomplete legal procedures”.

A ceremony was held for the starting of the construction of the building on July 20, though only four days after its hotly-anticipated start date, it has already run into legal difficulties. Although investment for the building has been confirmed, there has reportedly been a failure to obtain required permission from relevant departments regarding aspects such safety and environmental issues.

The Yuanda Group, who are behind the construction of the building, received a notice from the authorities on July 24 asking that they continue with the project once they have overcome these legal procedures.
