You don't have to be American to enjoy Thanksgiving in Beijing. Whether you choose to spend the evening at one of the many restaurants offering Thanksgiving specials, or opt to cook your own turkey, the fourth Thursday in November is a great excuse to stop whatever you're doing and enjoy a huge, sleep-inducing meal with friends and family, no matter your nationality. Here are some of our recommendations for a pleasant Thanksgiving dinner around Beijing on November 22.

Restaurants

1) Lily's American DinerView In Map
At just 109 RMB per person, Lily's just might be the most affordable Thanksgiving dinner in Beijing this year. The meal includes turkey, sides, and dessert, with takeaway options in case you'd rather take it home and pretend you made it yourself. Lily's is also offering whole turkeys at 79 RMB/kg if you book at least two days in advance.

2) Más Tapas BarView In Map
Enjoy a hutong Thanksgiving at Más, offering all the essentials—roast turkey with cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and homemade gravy, traditional bread stuffing with sage, creamy green bean chicken casserole, baked cinnamon apples and sweet potatoes and, of course pumpkin pie—for just 150 RMB. 3) Tim's Texas BBQView In Map
Tim's Texas BBQ offers a Thanksgiving set meal featuring turkey with corn-bread stuffing, honey-baked ham, sweet corn soufflé, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes with giblet gravy, cucumber salad, raspberry salad, and your choice of pumpkin or apple pie. The price is 178 RMB per person, or 198 RMB for the same meal plus glass of wine, and 68 RMB for children under 12. Reservations recommended; call 6591 9161.

4) The Bridge Café View In Map
The Bridge Café in Wudaokou is the ideal Thanksgiving retreat for homesick students. This year they're offering a set meal with turkey for 198 RMB per person if you make reservations before November 20 (after which price goes up to 228 RMB per person). Definitely make plans early; they won't accept reservations made on the day, November 22.

5) Blue Frog (Sanlitun location)View In Map
Famous for their two-for-one Monday burger deals, Blue Frog in Sanlitun is also a dependable go-to for a “home away from home” Thanksgiving experience. Blue Frog's Thanksgiving set meal for 220 RMB per person (190 RMB person for groups of eight or more) includes turkey, soup, drink, and dessert. They're also offering whole turkey sets for groups of 10 or more with options priced at 998, 1880, and 1980 RMB. Reservations encouraged; dinner starts as early as 16:00.

6) The Schoolhouse at Mutianyu Great WallView In Map
Thanksgiving at the Great Wall is definitely your best bet for Thanksgiving with the whole family. The Schoolhouse is offering a special bus service from the city to their activity center by the Mutianyu Great Wall, where you eat family-style roast turkey with all the trimmings before letting the kids romp off to the playroom while you sit back and enjoy live jazz. Dinner is 360 RMB for adults, 120 for university students, and 90 RMB for 4-12-year-olds (kids under 4 eat free). Round-trip bus service from the Kempinski Hotel is 80 RMB. Reservations are required.

Featuring roasted turkey, chestnut-prune stuffing, spiced apple puree, rye crumble, turkey-truffle sauce, and a host of other special treats (pumpkin tofu, date chutney, pistachio roast apple-calvados custard tart, walnut ice cream) for 438 RMB. Reservations are essential.
