Parks in Tianjin: Water Slides, Free Gyms and More

Like any major Chinese city, there are many parks in Tianjin that not only offer respite from the hustle and bustle of the city, but a variety of fun, family-friendly activities and attractions. Below are four hugely popular parks in Tianjin that offer a wealth of activities for young and old. And what’s best: they’re all free!

1) Tianjin Water ParkView In Map
Carrying a hefty “4A” national scenic spot status, the Tianjin Water Park (水上公园) is a large multi-themed park composed of three lakes and five islands. The amusement park area has been dubbed “Tianjin’s Little Disney” and is very popular with the locals due to its rollercoaster and waterslide among other rides. If you prefer something a little less exciting (or are simply concerned about safety) you can rent a boat to cruise around the lakes. There’s also a nearby zoo which costs 20 RMB to enter.

2) Taifeng ParkView In Map
Taifeng Park (泰丰公园) is a fairly big park with a lovely lake in the middle and plenty of trees to reconnect you to nature. The park also boasts lush, open green spaces where you can have a game of Frisbee or, if you have one, give your dog a good run out. Due to its natural feel and size, Taifeng Park is Tianjin’s hotspot for soon-to-be brides and grooms to come and take their wedding photos. The place is also popular with kite fliers who love nothing better than to take advantage of the sea-breeze on windy days. You can also set up a tent and have a barbecue, so why not make a weekend out of it sometime?!

The large park features the typical trimmings of an amusement area, fitness facilities, an exciting-sounding “water activity area,” as well as a section reserved for tropical plants and flowers. The park is a popular congregation spot for the local kite-flying community and there’s also a handy miniature snack street for those in need of refreshment whilst on the go.
