Rooftop Driving School in Hefei Causes Uproar

The “weird things on rooftops in China” saga seems to have no end. Recently, a netizen in Hefei spotted a driving school on – get this – the rooftop of a mall. Despite occupying a space of several thousand meters, it’s still quite odd to get your driving practice on a roof.

After posting the photo online, netizens remarked that perhaps having a driving school on a rooftop isn’t the smartest idea, especially since driving schools tend to attract inexperienced drivers who may just crash into the wall and potentially run the car off the building. “This school is teaching drivers at the expense of their lives,” one over-dramatic netizen remarked.

According to reports, the rooftop actually doubles up as a parking space for a hotel and the practice ground is cordoned off with iron railing. After authorities got wind of the story, they immediately banned all rooftop driving lessons. However, there is no law that states rooftop driving schools are illegal so their ban has little weight. Expect to see classes up and running as normal soon.

We don’t know what’s worse, the rooftop driving school itself or people’s faith in others’ driving abilities!

More amazing is the fact that Chinese drivers actually practice! I guess whatever they learn is left on the rooftop once they hit the road.
