A Golden Silence? Man Hasn’t Spoken to His Wife for 26 Years

What could she have done to deserve such treatment?

In a report on July 23 screened by a local Shenzhen TV network, Mrs Zhang, who works in a factory in Shenzhen, used reporters to try and urge her husband, Mr Zeng, to speak to her for the first time in 26 years.

Zhang told the reporters that they don’t live together and only rekindle (albeit in silence) during holidays. When reporters came in to quiz Zeng as to why he has stonewalled his wife for 26 years, his wife went into a scolding tirade directed at her husband before breaking down and getting on her knees begging her husband to reply.

A reporter then asked Zeng, “Do you fear your wife?” To which he answered, “I do fear her a little bit.” Upon probing, the reporter found that Zhang often spoke to her husband in a “harsh way”, and was often out with other people after they got married, and seldom came home.

Following Zeng’s final statement, the camera then turned to his wife who had a look of sheer guilt on her face.

The full video of the report can be viewed here.

Agree. Chinese women do have a tendency to test relationships, often this is to the point of failure. Then they just say, 'I knew he wasn't good'.
