According to Taiwanese media, a 28-year old student studying overseas in France has made a name for herself online because of her project to try and steal a hundred kisses from a hundred different men. The project was pioneered by a beautiful woman named Yang Yaqing 杨雅晴. She has published a book called A Hundred Kisses in Paris documenting 54 of her successful kisses with color photos. She dedicated the book to herself as a “special” kind of birthday present. So far, Yang has managed to successfully kiss 67 men.

Yang dreamed up the project because she was curious about what it would be like to kiss a hundred different men. She started putting her plans into action last July, in Paris, and uploaded pictures documenting her stolen kisses to a photo sharing site. The photos went viral, attracting over 6.49 million views. Yang claims her family are supportive of her endeavor.

According to Yang, she first had the thought up the hundred kisses project three years ago, but was judged “promiscuous” by her friends in Taiwan. Since coming to Paris to continue her studies two years ago, she finally gathered up enough courage to give her project a try, because, “Paris is such a romantic city.” She has since documented her kisses all over Paris, including at monumental attractions like the Louvre, Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe. She has kissed men in different lines of work – valets, artists, soldiers, public officials, models – and of different nationalities – French, Italian, Greek, English and Hungarian.

Yang works with a photographer friend to try and document her kisses. She said that even though she selects the men at random, they do have to “look good in front of a camera” and have to agree to the kiss and being photographed.

She also admitted that some of her kisses were especially memorable, like that one time when she had asked the bad-boy looking valet at Café Les Deux Magots for his kiss; he refused at first, but she finally got him to agree, after much pleading, and during the kiss he was shy and flushed. Another time, she kissed a French man and he bit her lip. The deep and concentrated stare of a German man she kissed in front of the Sacred Heart Cathedral has left an indelible impression on her. Her happiest moment in the project so far was when the French pianist Alexandre Tharaud asked her for a kiss.

Even as a beautiful woman, Yang admitted that she wasn't 100% successful (only about 80%) when asking for kisses. She’d thought that French men were the most romantic beings but surprisingly, quite a number of them turned her down when they find out that she wants a romantic kiss and not just a peck on the cheek. Once Yang even asked a French man with his girlfriend on his arm for his kiss, and “she immediately threw me that hateful look.”

When the pictures first became viral online, and now with the book, the growing publicity has also brought controversy as to what it is that she's trying to accomplish with her project. Yang’s answer: “Kissing is a very cute way to interact, and I'm just someone who dares to go after what I want. I won't give up until I've assembled all hundred kisses.”
