Zhongnan University Graduate Student Commits Suicide After Failing Thesis
May 25, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Zhongnan University graduate student Kang Dongshen jumped to his death from the sixth floor of the university's library building a week ago after failing his thesis. He was 28 years old.

Two days ago, Kang's older brother, Kang Dongzhong revealed that his brother left a thousand word suicide note online. The note said that he planned to commit suicide because his academic supervisor failed his thesis.

When Kang Dongzhong approached his brother's thesis supervisor, the supervisor said that he did not deliberately fail Kang Dongshen's thesis. The thesis did not pass the university's regulations system.

The same day, Zhongnan University's Deputy Party Secetary Ma Jun confirmed Kang's death as a suicide. Ma said that the school is actively communicating with Kang's family, but could not give any other information.

Zhongnan University is located in Changsha, Hunan. It is a national key university, and a Project 211 and 985 school.

there must be more to this story. universities here have almost 100% graduation rate because they take bribes and handhold students until they meet the requirements. failing to meet university standards is BS. students normally get to do-over, revise, tweak and cheat to their hearts' content.

hi2u

This is what happens when students are forced to study a profession they have no interest in, ultimately to fail.
