Young Changchun Artists Put Giant Flowery Pants on Naked Statue
Feb 01, 2016 By eChinacities.com

For those of you who have never visited the Jilin capital, Changchun’s Cultural Square has a massive statue of a naked man in the middle of it. This past weekend, a group of young Chinese put a giant pair of flowered pants on the naked man and took photos of it. The pictures have since gone viral in China.

The young people said that they were not making fun of the statue, but that their actions were “performance art.” They made the pants themselves, and hoped that the spectacle would bring joy to the people in Changchun during the New Year.

“They put on the pants, and took some photos. The whole thing only took about a half an hour,” said a witness from the square.

The statue was erected in 2006. It weighs one ton and stands four meters high. It has been mocked by Changchun residents in the past many times.
