Yinchuan Entertainment Overview

Yinchuan has a great deal to offer in the way of entertainment to visitors looking to unwind after a day's sightseeing.

Local squares such as South Gate Square or Zhongshan Park, and smaller indoor venues provide the setting for traditional music played on the Kouxian - a small stringed instrument similar to a jew's harp. Festivals take place on the 1st and 15th days of every lunar month where local cultural displays take place alongside kung-fu exhibitions! The festival calendar in Yinchuan also includes a Hua'er song festival during May and June.

Other folk performances can be seen at the Yinchuan Theater and the Golden Song and Dance Theater. Additionally, the newly opened China Hui Culture Park is also a good option for visitors looking to understand Hui customs and life. A walk along Xinhua Jie, Jiefang Jie, and South Gate Square will give you a taste of local culture but for a taste of local food served up at the night market in Zhongshan Beijie can't be missed.

The city has several bars and night-clubs, of which the most popular are the Fulu Bar and the Yinggema Bar which has live music performances between 9:30pm and 10:30pm on Friday and Saturdays. The city can also offer bowling alleys, swimming pools, gymnasiums, teahouses and karaoke at one of the city's many KTVs.

The city caters well to fans of water sports and desert amusement activities. Shapotou, Sand Lake and Jinshui Park can offer desert volleyball, desert baths, boating, wind surfing, dune sliding, navigating the Yellow River on a sheepskin raft and much more. Families should also consider a trip to the Yinchuan Xihu Amusement Park in the north of Yinchuan which caters well to children.
