Through cards for Xi’an will be put into operation which allow users to pay for a multitude of city services with just one card. The cards are supposed to be launched before the end of this year as the current IC bus cards are replaced by the through cards. Subways and taxis will adopt the cards in 2011. By 2012, the system is expected to also cover water, heat and gas bills; road and bridge tolls; parking, refueling, traveling, even breakfast and other small consumption items.
