Xi Turns Down Mark Zuckerberg’s Request to Name Unborn Child

Xi Turns Down Mark Zuckerberg’s Request to Name Unborn Child
Oct 10, 2015 By eChinacities.com

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg flaunted his Mandarin skills at a state dinner with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his U.S. visit, but was rejected when he asked Xi to give his unborn child a Chinese name.

Zuckerberg and his wife Pricilla Chan attended the White House state dinner on September 25 along with Xi, U.S. President Barack Obama, and a number of American business leaders. The Facebook founder was seated at the main table with Xi, and asked him during the dinner if Xi would be able to give an honorary Chinese name for his soon to be born daughter.

Xi declined, saying that the honor was “too much responsibility.” The only person Xi has named, according to public information in China, is his own daughter.

Chinese President Xi Jinping could not have given a more polite negative answer, at the same time "giving some face" to Suckerberg, oops !! If the request had come from Ms. Pricilla Chan, it might have sounded more genuine.

If the person who acted as Zuckerberg in that movie about him/ facebook was legit, I would have said something worse. Zuckerberg was depicted as an anti-social misfit asshole in the film "The social network".

"Not my responsibility" is a common attitude among Chinese. It seems to go all the way up to the top. Imagine that.

That doesn't even make sense in the context of the article. Naming a total stranger's child is in no way President Xi's responsibility, and it *is* a lot of responsibility.

Xi said "too much responsibility" and it goes along with many Chinese people's attitude of 'not my responsibility'. I guess you don't know what a joke is. I give English names to Chinese students all the time. Naming someone isn't a lot of responsibility. Do you really think Zuckerberg wouldn't name his own child? You're taking it too seriously.
