Xi Jinping’s Salary to Rise 60 Percent in 2015
Jan 21, 2015 By eChinacities.com

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security has confirmed that civil servants will be getting their first pay rise since 2006-and it’s going to be big.

Pay rises have been frozen for years and public service officials have been increasingly leaving their jobs for the private sector over complaints about low pay.

The pay rises will apply to all civil servants from village level to Xi Jinping, who is reportedly going to enjoy a 60 percent pay rise alongside all members of the Politburo Standing Committee. That means their salaries will go from 7,020 RMB a month to 11, 385 a month.

This of course only applies to the basic salary which only makes up a part of civil servants’ monthly income; the rest comes from housing allowances, allowances based on duties and position, and presumably, lots of bribes.
