Wuhan Builds World's Largest Temple Bell Again

According to a bulletin released by Wuhan Heavy Duty Casting & Forging Co., Ltd., a bell has been forged for Xilai Temple of Liuzhou, Guangxi province. The temple bell is 9 m tall with a diameter of 6.06 m and weighing 109 tons. It has become the world's largest cast temple bell to date. The surface of the bell is inscribed with over 92,306 characters – passages from a Buddhist scripture.

In 2006, the same company cast a similar bell for Hanshan Temple in Suzhou. That bell weighed 108 tons and with over 70,000 character inscriptions, was registered as the world's largest cast temple bell in the Guinness World Records.
