Woman Sentenced to Six Months for Using Boyfriends Bank Card behind his Back

A woman who took over 30,000 RMB from her boyfriend’s bank account without his consent has been sentenced to a six-month suspended sentence for stealing.

Liu Peng and Wu Xiaoli met by chance at a dinner party. The attraction was instant and the two began dating in early 2014. Soon after that, they moved in together.

One day, Wu Xiaoli happened to see Liu Peng’s pin number when he was paying for something by card. Liu didn’t mind because he thought there was no harm in his girlfriend knowing his pin number.

He thought nothing of it until December, when he tried to make a payment and was shocked to find that there were insufficient funds in the account. Panicked, he called 110 and reported that he had been defrauded. The police pulled up his bank records and it transpired that Wu had made a series of withdrawals in November, totaling over 32,000 RMB.

Angry, he returned to their home to confront Wu. Wu however, didn’t see the problem: “We live together! You’re money is my money, right? This is our common property. ”

The Suzhou People’s Court didn’t feel the same way and gave her a six month suspended sentence and a 10,000 RMB fine. The sentence was relatively light as she surrendered herself and actively promised to compensate Liu for the money she spent.

The judge presiding over the case cautioned the public that there is no such thing as common property between unmarried couples in the eyes of the law, and that couples can’t just freely dispose of each other’s money and property.

“We live together! You’re money is my money, right? This is our common property. ” And just how much money was she bringing into the "common property"? If he's bringing a hundred thousand or more, and she's contributing less than a grand, she has more to gain from the "shared arrangement" than he does. "The judge presiding over the case cautioned the public that there is no such thing as common property between unmarried couples in the eyes of the law, and that couples can’t just freely dispose of each other’s money and property." There's also quite a bit of this in married couples too. A girlfriend taking you for all you have isn't much worse than a wife doing the same thing.

Mainland girls' relationship motto is 'your money is my money, my money is my money'. If you find a mainland girl who truly hasn't heard of this motto pls. let me know; I'll go buy a lottery ticket immediately and if I win I'll split it with you. Of course I'm talking about those of dating age and not toddlers. :)

Yep I met a main land girl who actually helped me out coming to China by giving me some of her money, but sorry mate. I married her because I knew no offense to the good Chinese ladies out there that she was one rare lady in China:). She of course loves money, but let's be honest who doesn't lol. Their are good Chinese ladies out there who really don't want your money or your possessions, just like in our western countries they are hiding among all the bad ladies haha.

@mattsinchina Of course you knew why this 'rare lady' helped you came to China. LOL 'She of course loves money, but let's be honest who doesn't lol.' Well, I heard of a guy who gave away a significant portion of his money to people plenty of whom he never even met. And if that wasn't rare enough I also heard he actually got a whole bunch of people doing the same. Does the name Bill Gates ring a bell to you? LOL

I was talking about this story, and how lucky I was to find a gem. How did a billionaire get dragged into this conversation lol?

Gem....You knew why this 'rare lady' helped you came to China, right? LOL So the name Bill Gates rang a bell, good for you! You can't see your own question (which I quoted in my last comment)? LOL Not one person but a whole group. They are multi-billionaires, not billionaire, btw. If they love money why would they throw theirs away? LOL
