Woman Puts Ice Cream Cake in Freezer; Cake Explodes for Some Reason
May 21, 2013 By eChinacities.com

A woman named Wu from Beijing recently had a nasty surprise when an ice cream cake inside her refrigerator’s freezer compartment apparently exploded.

While out shopping, Wu bought an ice cream cake, as many of us would do considering the recent warm weather. When she got home, she decided to store the leftovers of the ice cream cake inside her freezer in its plastic container and save it for later. What followed was an unexpected reaction, which saw her freezer suddenly burst open, firing shards of ice into her kitchen.

Experts said that the dry ice that was inside the ice cream cake container likely reacted with the temperature of the freezer. Because the temperature of the average freezer is still warmer than dry ice, the dry ice will begin to evaporate; in this case causing the airtight plastic container it was in to expand and eventually explode.
