Wenzhou Police Find Dongbei Tiger Carcass in SUV, 2 Men Arrested
Jan 09, 2014 By eChinacities.com

On January 8 Zheng Chuan and Ji Kewu, two police officers, got lucky when they were out training. Wandering down East Road they spotted a White SUV on the side of the road, the doors were open and two men were dragging something out the back. The thing they were carrying was wrapped up in tarpaulin and string, and appeared very heavy. Concerned that it was a body, the two police officers rushed over to investigate. And they were right, it was a body, just not human. In the back of the SUV they found the carcass of an adult Dongbei tiger.

The two men were arrested on the spot, and the vehicle and tiger carcass have been seized by police.

There are only 20 Dongbei tigers left in China, and only 400 in the world. This is a sad day.

Just when you thought Chinese couldn't possibly do anything to lower your expectations of them any further... What kind of warped minds see profit in selling near-extinct species? How big and free is the market for endangered species in this country if 2 policemen just happened to stumble on poachers by chance? I'd say such people deserve no human rights, but since the government is responsible for people being so deliberately uneducated and immoral, it becomes more of a philosophical "chicken or the egg" situation. They see no value in endangered species' lives because their own lives are given no value either. Where's a foreign military invasion when you need one?
