A brawl broke at Wanda Industrial Park in Bao’an District, Shenzhen at 11:00 on October 23, following a dispute about unpaid wages between staff and management. 30-40 workers blocked the entrances to the industrial park for several days and many even moved their beds there. For two days, thousands of workers were unable to enter the park to go to work.
A brawl broke out when staff of an export company attempted to transport goods out of the industrial park. During the scuffle, one worker pulled a knife on one of the wage mediating staff members, causing substantial loss of blood. This in turn sparked further chaos and violence which only ended after police fired warning shots to control the crowds.
