Use “Expresspay” Card for Select Shanghai Train Routes Starting Jun 1
May 27, 2013 By eChinacities.com

The Shanghai Railway Station and the Hongqiao Station started selling a “China Railway and Banking Expresspay” card for use on the Shanghai-Nanjing and Shanghai-Hangzhou high-speed rail routes on May 23. Cards can be purchased at ticket windows in these stations for a 30 RMB fee, plus a first-time charge of 300 RMB or above.

Beginning on June 1, cardholders can simply swipe the card at the turnstile to board the Shanghai “G” trains from Shanghai to Nanjing or Hangzhou (excluding trans-line routes). Cards are only good for second-class tickets, and a certain number of these seats have been reserved for this new service (first come first serve until full).

In addition, you can also use the funds on the Expresspay card to purchase other tickets from ticket window POS machines, self-service machines and online at www.12306.cn.  Card use is limited to the cardholder; funds on the card do not gain interest, and funds cannot be overdrawn.
