After a successful trial run on Jan.28, the new ultra high-speed railway from Xi'an to Zhengzhou will be officially launched on Feb. 6. First class tickets will cost 390 RMB and second-class tickets will cost 240 RMB. The entire trial run took only one hour and forty-eight minutes, with the train reaching a top speed of 352 km/h. As another ultra high-speed railway opened in China just after the one from Wuhan to Guangzhou, the new ultra railway from Xi'an to Zhengzhou, with a total length of 505 km, is the first high-speed railway ever built on loess – a rather unstable accumulation of silt and clay.
