US on-demand transportation service Uber is now available in Shanghai, its first city in China. Uber allows passengers to request, ride and pay for taxis via their mobile phone.
Customers wishing to avail of Uber’s taxi-finding services just have to download the app, register by entering their name, cell phone number, email and other basic personal information and then sync it to their credit cards. Once you’ve selected a collection and drop-off point an Uber driver will get in touch with you to confirm the ride. Uber deducts payments (in Dollars) directly from your credit card once you’ve reached your destination, so no need to have cash on you when you avail of the service.
At present, Uber charges a minimum of 9 USD per ride, with the flag fall price being 7 USD. Each additional kilometer costs 0.74 USD and waiting time costs 0.15 USD per minute. To register an Uber account and to find out more, go to https://www.uber.com/.

Well it looks like UBER's world domination continues... What a concept, although does it favour all taxi companies or just the ones you hail on the street??? Unless the universal taxi industry is deregulated, i fear this is a problem for a lot of taxis that can only take bookings by phone...
