As most of us would have hoped, the story about the 19 year-old Shanghai girl traveling around looking for men to… uh… fund her travels, was actually fabricated.
The story was made up by the marketing team at Youjia, an app that allows for match-making and hooking-up. The app has been ordered to shut down, as it is against the rules to make up these crazy, sexy news stories, Shanghai Daily reports.
Of course the news, alongside another news piece they had fabricated as a promotion for the popular app, spread like wild-fire, fuelling the ‘China is Weird’ epidemic that has taken a hold over the internet.

Meh, I didn`t care the first time. It`s not like a ton of women (and possibly some men) don`t do something similar on a daily basis.

Is it fake though? Why would a girl agree to have her image used in this way?

Wait, so a company broke the law and the government ordered that the company be shutdown because they broke the law. That sounds like a great idea.

"fuelling the ‘China is Weird’ epidemic that has taken a hold over the internet." Well, now the story is that an app company made up a story about a young woman using men to fund her travels in order to promote their product... which doesn't really refute the "China is weird" argument.

Thank God the story is fake. Sites faking for publicity rightfully deserve to be banned and completely shut down.
