Typhoon Utor has left behind a trail of destruction after hitting Guangdong Province on Aug 14. So far, 20 people have died and another seven have been reported as missing.
By 18:00 on Aug 18, most areas in the province were affected by flooding, landslides and debris flow, affecting some 4.16 million people in 18 cities across the province. The typhoon has also severely damaged or destroyed 19,000 homes causing a direct economic loss of 4.9 billion RMB.
