As of the Feb 23rd Urumqi City Fire Department ordered the closing of the Xintiandi Nightclub and the Mantang Hongshui Spa in the Sha District Entertainment Quarter due to concerns over lack of proper fire safety precautions.
Safety inspectors were sent in earlier this week to check on the availability of emergency lighting around fire exits and whether or not fire exits could be easily accessed. It was soon learnt that neither of this venues met any of the standard requirements and were therefore closed as a risk to the public. Further inspections on will be made in due course.
