On November 11 two foreigners were sentenced to prison for robbing a taxi at knife point by the Foshan city courts in Guangdong. The two defendants were Nigerian nationals and have been sentenced to 10 years, 6 months and 11 years in prison as well as fined.

The courts heard that in June 2012, John, one of the defendants, was struggling for cash and couldn’t pay rent. As a way to make some money he and the other defendant hailed down a taxi and using kitchen knives to threaten the driver robbed him of an iphone and 1020 RMB. The two were caught by police on June 18, and have been awaiting trail since then. On completion of their sentences both men will be immediately deported back to Nigeria.

It would help if everybody was considerate enough to respect their status as a guest in a foreign country. The misdeeds of a few can affect the visa policy of thousands, so why risk being the douche that ruined it for everybody? What a disrespectful thing to do to your hosts.
