The Shanghai Travel Card was released by the city's tourism administration and China UnionPay yesterday. The travel card is to serve the domestic and foreign tourists in Shanghai and the local residents. Cardholders can not only use the card in the UnionPay network at home and abroad, but also obtain preferential offers during Shanghai visits.
Now more than 100 local businesses and nearly 1000 UnionPay special nominated suppliers will offer travel, accommodation, catering, shopping and ticketing discounts or gifts to cardholders.
In additional, the city also released another travel card – the Shanghai City Travel Card, in June. Different from the newly issued one, it is a pre-paid card mainly used by the short-tour visitors in Shanghai. Thus the two cards offer different deals and discounts
