The passenger train from Kunming to Lijiang has become the most important means of transportation since it became operational on Jan. 1st 2010. Compared with the tourism cost of highway and civil aviation, the low cost of trains meets the needs of tourists from all walks of life. Hence, tourism was boosted in Lijiang and in the western Yunnan area as more and more tourists travel there.
