A tornado and hailstorm have killed at least 78 people in areas of Jiangsu province. The storm and tornado hit Yancheng, Funing, Sheyang, and other areas of Jiangsu yesterday around 3 pm. More than 500 people were injured in the disaster.
Hundreds of houses and several power facilities were destroyed in the tornado. The storm caused massive power outages and communication in affected areas is difficult.
The China National Commission for Disaster Reduction and the Ministry of Civil Affairs have launched an emergency disaster response plan.
