Apr 03, 2009 By eChinacities.com

News from the Tibetan Tourism Bureau is that from April 2009 Tibet will be re-opened to foreign tourists, as well as to tourists from Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau.

It is understood that with the reopening of Namu Lake, which is regarded as the "lake in the sky", Tibet will commence its peak tourism season at the end of April with an estimated increase of 30% in tourist numbers.
Namu Lake was closed to the public at the end of last year due to harsh weather. Now, with the weather improving and the snow and ice melting, it is again safe for tourists to visit the area.
