A special underground line connecting Tianjin West Railway Station and Tianjin Railway Station is expected to open sometime in 2012, cutting the travel time between the two stations down to only 4 minutes.
According to reports, the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Rail, the Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Rail-Tianjin West Railway Station northern connection line, the Tianjin West Railway Station-Tianjin Railway underground line, the Tianjin-Qinhuangdao passenger railway and the Qinhuangdao-Shenyang passenger railway will eventually form the final High-Speed Rail (HSR) Corridor between Beijing and Northeast China.
