An unemployed 28 year old in Tianjin posted online that he had caused the Tianjin warehouse explosion, and was later arrested for spreading false terror-related information.

Last week, a young man named Tan posted online that he had caused the explosion in Tianjin. “Causing the explosion in Tianjin, although I was wrong, I do not regret it,” he wrote. He said in his post that he caused the explosion after his boss had forced him to resign. He said that he poured pure alcohol on a number of tanks containing chemicals, lit it, and ran away as it exploded.

Tan was arrested by Tianjin Qiyang police on and confessed to spreading false information, and disturbing public order. He was sentenced to five days administrative detention.
