Located at the Tianjin Coastal Tourism Resort, the rebuilt Tianjin Expo Pavilion opened to the public for free on October 1st. Covering 4,000 square metres, the new pavilion will display many of the exhibits that were present at the Shanghai Expo, including “Clay Figure Zhang” painted sculptures, Yangliuqing New-Year pictures and “Kite Wei” kites, as well as new items, which represent Tianjin’s culture and also some statues of Chinese folk art founders.

In the “Looking to the future” Hall, a huge sand table miniature of Tianjin (14 metres in diameter) has become one of the pavilion’s major highlights. A multimedia projector also shows visitors a neat 3D model of Tianjin’s beautiful landscape. According to reports, the Tianjin Expo Pavilion will be limited to 500 visitors at a time, so expect queues during peak periods. Visitors can also call 6728 8156 to schedule an appointment.
