Three people were sentenced to death on Friday for the March Kunming Railway Station attack that left 29 dead and over 140 injured. Another person was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The one day trial was held in Kunming, capital of Yunnan, where the attack was carried out; IIskandar Ehet, Turgun Tohtunyaz and Hasayn Muhammad were charged with intentional homocide and organizing and leading a terrorist group and all received the death sentence. The fourth, Patigul Tohti, was charged with joining a terrorist group and received a life sentence.

The four are the surviving half of a group of eight attackers that stormed Kunming Railway Station on March 1, dressed in black and armed with knives and Machetes. Four perpetrators were shot dead by police at the scene.

The attack was one of many violent attacks this year that have underscored the civil unrest in relation to China’s northwestern Xinjiang- according to the Guardian, 323 people have died this year alone in violent incidents related to the region.
