Three Nuclear Projects Expected to Go Ahead

Three Nuclear Projects Expected to Go Ahead
Dec 05, 2014 By eChinacities.com

According to various sources, three nuclear projects are expected to get approval this month. These three projects represent a total of six nuclear reactors.

Following the nuclear disaster in Fukushima in 2011, China suspended approval for nuclear plant construction. However, analysts expect Hongyan River nuclear project in Liaoning province, Shidao Bay nuclear project in Shandong province, and Fuqing nuclear power plant in Fujian province to be given the green light.

Increasing reliance on nuclear energy has the potential to alleviate pollution from Beijing’s northeast, demand for which is growing every day, especially following the APEC summit which was held in Beijing this month.
