The Swivelling Bridge of Wuhan: First of its Kind in Asia

The Swivelling Bridge of Wuhan: First of its Kind in Asia
Jan 15, 2014 By eChinacities.com

On January 14 Wuhan demonstrated its magnificent swivelling bridge, the first of its kind in Asia and the second in the world. The bridge is 131.5 metres long and 17,300 tons (which is more than 10,000 elephants if you’d like to know), but can swivel on its central pillar like a graceful ballerina, well like a graceful ballerina that can only turn 106° very, very slowly. The bridge is part of a 12 lane motorway that crosses Wuhan’s railway.
