Thai Temple to Build Separate Toilets for Non-Chinese Visitors

Thai Temple to Build Separate Toilets for Non-Chinese Visitors
Mar 05, 2015 By eChinacities.com

A temple in Thailand has made the controversial decision of building separate toilets for non-Chinese visitors, after Chinese tourists apparently made the facilities ‘unusable’.

Wat Rong Khun, known as ‘The White Temple’ in Chiang Rai, is building the separate facilities following complaints from other visitors. According to one official, Chinese tourists “defecated on the floor, urinated on the walls outside and left sanitary pads on the wall of the bathrooms,"

The temple has previously banned Chinese tourists for poor behavior, despite the fact that Chinese visitors comprise 18.7 percent of annual international visitors to Thailand.

Chiang Mai, another popular destination, has now begun printing out booklets on proper etiquette in Mandarin and distributing them among Chinese tourists in hopes of curbing bad behavior.

Another way more flattering way to see that for Chinese is that " as VIP tourist Chinese have their own toilets that can't be used by other nationalities"

Another comment:Christopher Houser 1 month ago +Fat G Asking. I dated a girl for a while that was from Hunan province. It is, incidentally, why I don't date non-Americanized (she moved here at 6 but tried strongly to hold onto her culture and heritage) anymore. There's just too much of a cultural difference there. Also, getting yelled at in Chinese (or any language you don't speak) sucks.

You can clearly see that chinese dude is shitting on Kawloon street in honkong. Here is the comment about the youtube video: SylvanaForrester 4 months ago When I was young, my neighborhood (Sunset Park, Brooklyn) was predominantly populated by the children and grandchildren of Scandinavian immigrants with a smattering of other Europeans such as Italians, Irish and Polish. The neighborhood was extremely clean and safe and on the weekends you could even see old women scrubbing the sidewalks with soapy hot water. In the late 70s the Chinese started coming and within thirty years the area is almost unrecognizable. It is filthy on the verge of being a health

I've seen human shit on the sidewalk in Pudong, which is probably the most developed part of this whole country.

Haha, I have seen grown men water the trees while playing golf, in various countries. But I guess seeing someone drop pants and leave a surprise on the sidewalk has to be rather surprising, in any society.

Some people behave in a non sociable way, true, but this is hardly a problem of China alone. For example, I used to work in tourism and some of the most difficult people were from France. They would behave very snobbish and get angry when we could not accomodate their specific demands. We just had to tolerate it because business is about making money, not refusing it.

I agree with you, French people can at times be a little different. But I have never seen one shit on the floor, and that's the whole sick bloody point here! Don't try to make some b/s comparisons or excuses, just admit that there are millions and millions and millions of Chinese people with hygiene and manners that belong to the Dark Ages. Just admit it!

Well none of the ones I am friends with or have had relationships with are such people. So even you are ISIS and threaten me with torture and other things, I will not admit. I have stories to tell regarding tour groups I have dealt with in the past, from Europe or a certain South American country. Honestly speaking I am not wanting to bring further embarassment.

Yes mate, I'm sorry too. What you could do is make it your business, indeed why not make it a crusade, to tell every local you know how you find this type of animalistic behaviour so abhorrent and degrading. Better yet, why don't you post something to that effect on Chinese social media? I hope you do, and one fine day, when China has been dragged into the 21st century by your actions, I look forward to buying you a beer.

"Chiang Mai, another popular destination, has now begun printing out booklets on proper etiquette in Mandarin and distributing them among Chinese tourists in hopes of curbing bad behavior." Ah, well then, problem solved. I mean, we all know how Chinese totally follow written behavioral guidelines.

Chinese visitors "defecated on the floor, urinated on the walls outside and left sanitary pads on the wall of the bathrooms". Oh, and this is the same culture that laughs at people for not being Chinese? I wonder where they derive their sense of superiority from.

This is fair enough. Until Chinese can behave like civilised people they shouldn't be allowed to mix with the normal folk. They only have themselves to blame. Fair play to Thailand for having the guts to do something about it. The rest of the world should take note.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks at other's houses. In simple, nobody is perfect. Start looking at yourself first before saying others.

Mr Wonderful he may not be, but I'll have a wild guess that Mr Eorthisio does not shit on the floor. Whilst I haven't (yet) seen a Chinese person shit on the floor in another country I sure have seen a lot of them shit on the floor in this (their own) country. It really is a sad state of affairs. World superpower? Super at shitting and spitting on the floor while the population at large just walks on by.

This is embarrassing... I feel really bad for the well-behaved Chinese that want to explore the world and travel. Chinese education and parenting REALLY needs to put a lot more focus on proper international manners.
