Now, less than a month after Tesla released its first batch of cars in mainland China, you will be able to hire the electric cars in Shanghai. The eHi Auto Services Co. has purchased two of the cars and are renting them out for somewhere in the region of 1,000 RMB a day; compared to the 149 RMB it costs to rent a Roewe E50 from SAIC Motors.

One of the two cars has already been reserved but the other is believed to be available still. The Tesla Model S electric car can reportedly run for up to 500 km between charges but the country as of yet does not have enough charging stations to make them practical. Tesla is working on this problem and plans to build a lot more charging stations and bring in more of its cars into the world’s fastest growing automobile market.
