Terrorist Group Bust in Xinjiang Leaves 15 Police Officers Dead

According to reports, violent attacks occurred in Bachu County in Xinjiang on April 23 that killed 15 police and community cadres (10 Uighur, 3 Han, 2 Inner Mongolian) and left two injured (both Uighur).

The attacks occurred in Selibuya Township after two community workers discovered a suspicious mob equipped with knives hiding out in one of the residences. The three workers immediately reported the sighting to their superiors and were subsequently taken hostage.

After the police and community cadres arrived to the scene, the two community workers had already been killed and the residence set alight. A violent raid ensued that left 15 of the police officers and community cadres dead. Six members of the mob were also killed and another eight were arrested. According to preliminary investigations, the mob was a terrorist group who were planning to commit terrorist attacks.
