Nov 01, 2010 By eChinacities.com

Recently, drivers of Shenzhen’s green taxis went on stike, with about 90% of green taxis not working. Starting from October 27th, Shenzhen’s Bao’an and Longgang districts taxi drivers went on strike, protesting for more rights.

Bo’an and Longguan Districts are known as "guan wai", distinct from other parts of Shenzhen which are known as "guan nei". In the "guan nei" areas the fees for taxis are higher, and the taxis are coloured red. In "guang wai" areas the taxis are coloured green. In terms of service charges, "guan nei" prices atart start at 12 RMB, with a two RMB fuel subcharge. In the green taxis of "guan wai" the prices start at 6 RMB, with just a one RMB charge or about half price of red taxis.
